PinkJukebox Race Trophy 2008 - Review

On 16 February, I participated in the contest Pink Jukebox Trophy dance of the same sex in London: http://www.pinkjukebox.co.uk/ , a real show high level.

There were so many couples (see site information) ... many pairs of women ... in my level (initial) were 3 pairs of male ... there were at least seven of those women ...

pairs were put into four different categories according to their jurisdiction, in A very good, very good ones in B, those with some experience in C and D in those who began to do just to dance .... This' was done for both the standard and for the Latin American dance.

As I entered the D had to do to standard waltz, quickstep and tango (but not Argentine Ballroom) and Latin America: cha cha cha, rumba and jive ....

Those in B added in the Latin American samba and foxtrot slow in standard ... and those of A were also in Latin American dance step doble and Viennese waltz in standard ...


I hosted a couple of Danish dancers ... very nice that they eventually won in the category Latin America ... There were couples from the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, United States, and Sweden for the first time, Spain. Unfortunately, there was no Italian couple ... which leaves us perplexed as the Italians are, straight in the circuit, the dancers' good ...

And another fact emerges Pulcinella, wakes up in a dreamlike tones and colors that belonged to the time of the great Caravaggio. Scott himself tells us that this is an idealized Punch Colombina, which foreshadows a kind of hero as a romantic knight forced to live in the human tragedy that he abhors, and perhaps fear. From here, a stripping that does not necessarily mean, as often happens in today, falling into frigidity. Basically, in the tumult of passions Scotto requires a naive, highly, nobly naive, which reassesses the Pulcinella dreamer, the dreamer man who thinks he can dominate and overcome the bitterness and brutality of life real. But the dream of Pulcinella is revealed to be, Scotto, not only the idealized dream, but the dream itself, that of the unconscious, since the real Pulcinella, without a mask, wakes up and discovers old, shabby, all things considered defeated. Condensing the reasons supporting and poetics of his most recent, in a kind of operation to Yourcenar, surgical reconstruction memory through writing, Scotto recalls the protagonist of his inspiration, Domitilla, harlot city Vesuvius, known figure for the first time through the magnificent nineteenth-century casts of the figures imprisoned by the lava at Pompeii. But it is in the recordings (etching and soft ground) that the reconstruction of the artist knows how to move towards consistency in an absolute form, sealing the expressive rigor hellish atmosphere of the event extraordinary: the choice of a single hue (the dominant red), a close correspondence between these forms of hollow casts, left by the decay of organic matter in the bodies of hardened lava, and the figures carved into the grooves of the matrix, making the scenes pregnant with a unanimous drama, which invests the man and nature. The bodies start to become shadows, shadows on fire: and perhaps these are the images that bring back the mind to those 'men (they also only shadows on the wall now) disintegrated by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
