DANCING WITH THE STARS .... THE SAME SEX

My experience of dance and gay couples' began in 1999 when John, a friend of Gay Goslings which swam in London , took me to the White Swan, a very traditional English pub on Sunday afternoons became a ballroom for same-sex couples.

The "Tea Dance of the White Swan and 'a tradition of the gay dance scene in London. The pub opens the door a bit 'before five. Inside has the usual appearance of the English pub next to the bar unless there 's a table with tea cups, a steaming hot "teapot" and trays of pastries.

The lounge bar fills up quickly for boys and girls, we are changed from those dancing shoes and finally runs the tent of the ballroom and the DJ begins to put on music. In London, the couple dance LGBT and 'widespread. I personally have been in contact with four dance schools devoted to LGBT.

Each school handles social dances that you can 'participate without taking lessons. Some events are fabulous as the "Jacky's Jukebox" at the Rivoli, a huge hall famous for its original decor, with velvet chairs, crystal chandeliers, alternating with large Chinese lanterns, wallpaper red medallions golden musicians of the past and two galleries bar where you can rest between dance sessions.

Everything 'very pleasant, and' easy to make friends and dance of the seven in the evening at midnight, in time to reach the clubs if you can not if they can 'do without. But what do you dance? Now "Dancing with the Stars" has made it popular dances of the ten international competitions.

L 'International Standard (the that in Italy we call dance hall) includes the English Waltz, Quick Step, Tango's Lounge, Slow Fox-Trot and Viennese Waltz, includes the International Latin Cha-cha, Rumba, Jive, Samba and Paso Doble. For the dance competition are added occasionally Bossanova, Salsa, Argentine Tango and others.

After a while 'time I attended the "Dancing scene" London, John Peter introduced me to an Irish friend and decide for us that we participate in competitions. According to him, we are well matched for physical and style. I have never participated in competitive sports of any kind, but faced with this unusual challenge I accepted. And so 'I found myself participating in the "Pink Jukebox Trophy 2002 at the Rivoli. I will spare you the details of the training, the choice of dress, of nervous breakdowns, of small details such as antiperspirant or safety pins to hold the race number. Despite all ..... Peter and I, we classified the first!

But the league ball is not 'just a competition. It 's a great opportunity to socialize. Couples came from all over Europe and two by the USA. There are social dinners, tours for foreigners and not. I hosted a very nice couple Viennese dance partner and also in their love life. Now they are my great friends. While Peter and I raced as a beginner level D, their participation in the B level, but still not very high at the top. Cosi 'is born of dance fever.

After London I went to a championship in Nijmegen in April, one in Vienna (guest of my friends) in September and again in London in February 2003. The schedule of races and 'much more' extensive and involving other European countries, particularly Germany and even Denmark, Hungary, Belgium, and beyond, such as Canada, Australia and the USA.
As the court there 'who keeps the scores of races and if you participate in at least two events in the know your score in the world rankings for your category. There is also the European Association of Dance homosexual, which regulates competition and publishes a calendar with races ( http://www.essda.eu/ ).

Then there are the Gay Games, the Out Games and the Euro Games. Gay Olympics, including the discipline of dance sport. In my year of grace 2002, I did not feel ready for the trip to Sydney for the edition of the Gay Games that year and I have repented. Now it 's time to make my next appointment with this year's Out Games and the week of Queer Tango in Copenhagen, which will be held from July 25 to August 2.
Many couples have already started training for the Games where we will be racing out of same-sex couples in 5 different levels from those who know very little up to the professionals, as well as mixed dancing and dancing in wheelchairs ( http: / / www.copenhagen2009.org/Sport/Disciplines/Dancing.aspx ).

Unfortunately absent are the great Italians. We are the most 'large samples of standard and Latin American dance sport competitions in the mixed pairs, a man and a woman, but we are totally absent in the competitions of same-sex couples, two men and two women. Once again, the prejudices are very hard to die. When I started two years ago with a friend to organize a group of gay and lesbian couples dance in Rome were my gay friends to discourage me and tell me that just did not understand how a man could dance with another man!
I personally love the dance, I like to dance with men and women, but I must admit that I feel an inspiration in more 'when I dance with a partner of my sex. The dance is 'a form of courtship and do so with the object of their desire to add an emotional dimension in more' to the pleasure of circling the track in perfect agreement with the partner and the music.
In Rome in 2007 we created BalloRomo, a dance group of LGBT couples who meet more 'or less regularly once a week for lessons with professionals and or to social dance. In the first season we have also prepared a performance, a kind of wise and year-end, we performed in public twice during the week of gay pride in Rome. Last year, finally, we found not to be more 'alone. In Milan, another LGBT group began to dance. To strengthen our ties and sporting ideals I and Andrew, the leader of the Milan group, we went to France, in a beautiful castle Limosano, for a week of dance LGBT couples, "Ligoure Tendance.
Every day for seven days we did life together with 47 other friends and friends from all parts of Europe and we took lessons participated in dancing and especially the fabulous theme every night (Belle Epoque, Gotique, Mai '68, ...), all for only 375 €. I have even discovered a talent-change learning to use make-up, needle and thread, poinsettias, wiring and anything else in order to dress the part suggested by the organizers. So 'you create friendships, even love' cause no, and have fun together.

Now I have to prepare. Friday, 'there is an evening of Balloromo here in Rome and then on Saturday I go to Paris with a low-cost flight, host of new French friends, to dance to boite "The Tango" on Saturday night and Sunday to participate in the TE Dansant : or and argent 'Association "Gais Musette."

HAPPY DANCE ALL
... and I recommend
come and dance with us
